Caught this today on the Hawksbury (Mohawk caught nothing!!)

Proposed ride before ‘the ride’ – ride
Proposing a ‘short’ ride before the big ride up north to my sister’s farm-stay.
Leaving Monday 11th Jan – about a 4 hour ride (if you go straight there – longer if we want) to stay o/nite & return back to Coast on Tuesday 12th. We can go either Golden Hwy to Merriwa or New England Hwy to Willow Tree – both ways enjoyable.

Please note – there is a section of graded dirt road to get to the farm-stay. About 18kms of it from the Merriwa end – less from the Willow Tree end – nothing atrocious (I did it w/out drama on my BMW R100Rt) & you don’t need a GS either, though, be prepared for your bike to get dirty/muddy depending on weather.
There will be no other guests on the night so we’ll have the place to ourselves, pool if hot – just need to know confirmed numbers early so they can buy in food & booze for us (we wont have to bring anything) – we can choose to BBQ ourselves or they will cook dinner/breakfast – we’ll be staying in the bunkhouse. Once I know numbers I can confirm costs (my sister assures me that she’ll do a ‘deal’ for Nige MC). Hope you can join Nige & myself!
Transformation Begins
After arduous days on the tools and spray can, the transformation has begun.
The flat bars streamline the front end 🙂 Pity the throttle now no longer returns but gee, they look good.
Scrounger adopts a new riding position to reflect the café racer beast throbbing beneath him.
Note the fresh paint on the rocker covers and radiator surround, no crash bars and looking fairly flash 🙂
Bike in bits
Currently have the bike stripped down for new paint job. Waiting for day of low humidity. Also have back wheel removed to get new tyre fitted. Hopefully all will be ready for New England ride.

Talks are underway for a trip to the Superbikes at Phillip Island (26-28th Feb) with an extension to do a few extra days riding a lap of Tasmania.
Obviously, the same meticulous planning as usual 🙂 needs to happen as early as possible so if you think that you may be interested, please let me know ASAP.
CX500’s First Jerry’s Run
Scrounger, Killswitch and Nige had a leisurely ride to Jerry’s for a coffee or two.
Scrounger was quite pleased with the performance of the little bike that could.

North Ride
I propose a 3 day ride starting either on the Monday 18th or Tuesday 19th. Route would be via Gloucester, Armidale, Ebor to Grafton.
DD and I did this trip last school holidays and got caught out with accommodation so I’d be thinkin’ that we book in at a pub in Grafton, maybe the Crown.
Next day, Casino, Bonalbo (look it up), Urbenville, Woodenbong, Legume (not kidding), Tenterfield and Glenn Innes via Emmaville. (490km).
Day 3 home via TBA.

Honda Fury
Went for a ride today on the new Honda Fury and I was most impressed!
Not being much of a cruiser fan (understatement) this even surprised me but it is a really nice ride.
